About this Project
Study for adapting the former headquarters of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) into an arts school. A large interior atrium is carved into the heart of the building to create a gathering space. Spaces protrude from the existing building to meet programmatic needs and take advantage of views. An entry atrium with a grand staircase celebrates the coming together of old and new. Prepared by Daniel Moreno-Holt during his graduate studies at University of Maryland.
